The primary purpose of the Sierra Stampede Rodeo & Festival is to help the Sacramento, San Joaquin and Placer community; to promote, advance, and develop the sport of rodeo; to provide education, safety, and training in the production and participation of the sport of rodeo; and to participate in the preservation of our Western Heritage.

What We Do

Sierra Stampede spectator and contestant surveys indicate that in the past, the average attendees at our rodeos were male, over 30 years of age, and had an income over $40,000 per year. With the increasing popularity of gay rodeo and with our tremendous growth, we have seen a shift in the demographic over the past two years with many more women and families in attendance.  Attendees at our rodeos and other events are an ideal target market for your products and services and as a group, enjoy a higher than average disposable income. The Sierra Stampede rodeos, entertainment events, and public dances provide an ideal venue to expose your product or service to this target market, as well as demonstrate your commitment to the local gay and lesbian community.

The Sierra Stampede Rodeo & Festival costs over $70,000 to produce and we are currently producing our 10th Sierra Stampede Rodeo & Festival.  This is in addition to the normal operating expenses associated with an organization of our size.  Capital Crossroad’s highly successful fundraising events throughout the year, and our rodeo entertainment, ticket, merchandise sales, and vendor fees raise a portion of these funds.  The financial support of our sponsors helps to underwrite the costs of producing the rodeo, and helps to ensure a significant donation to our designated rodeo charity partner, Saddle Pals.  To that end, we are seeking local, regional, and national sponsors for the Sierra Stampede Rodeo & Festival.

The Sierra Stampede Rodeo & Festival is a subsidiary of Capital Crossroads Gay Rodeo Association which is a 501(c)(3) approved non-profit organization.  This means that your sponsorship is a tax deductible donation.  Proceeds from the rodeo have benefited local and nationally recognized charities, such as Muscular Dystrophy, Women’s Breast Cancer Research, the Sacramento Children’s Home, Shriners Children’s Hospital, and Saddle Pals of Sacramento.

This year we are proud to announce that there will be two beneficiaries of this year's rodeo.  Our designated primary beneficiary is UCP Saddle Pals and our secondary beneficiary is the Lavender Library, Archives and Cultural Exchange.
